Labanoon (Thai: ลาบานูน) is one of Thailand’s most beloved and longest-running pop-rock bands — a three-piece outfit from Bangkok whose songs have soundtracked Thai life for more than two decades. In 2026, for the first time ever, Labanoon performs live in Sydney with Thai Oz Entertainment.
About Labanoon
Formed in 1998 in Bangkok, Labanoon is signed to Genie Records (part of GMM Grammy, Thailand’s biggest music label). The band’s name comes from the Arabic word for “fresh milk” — a nod to the founding members’ shared background. All three original members studied together at the Islamic College of Thailand in Bangkok before forming the band.
The current line-up is:
- Metee Arun (เมธี อรุณ) — lead vocals, guitar
- Anan Saman (อนันต์ สะมัน) — bass, backing vocals
- Nattanon Srisaranon (ณัฐนนท์ ศรีศรานนท์) — drums
Across nine studio albums, Labanoon has built a sound that fuses pop-rock songwriting with the emotional directness of Thai folk and luk thung sensibilities. Their music ranges from blistering rock anthems to fragile acoustic ballads, all anchored by Metee Arun’s instantly recognisable voice. (Source: Wikipedia: Labanoon)
Why Labanoon Matters
For Thai music fans of a certain generation, Labanoon are part of a rock holy trinity that also includes Silly Fools and Bodyslam — the bands that defined Thai rock from the late 1990s into the 2010s. Their songs are sung in karaoke bars across Thailand and the diaspora, played at weddings, and quoted in conversation. Play “แพ้ทาง” (Pae Tang) or “ขอโทษ” (Khor Thot) in any room with a Thai expat in it and watch what happens.
The band won Artist of the Year at the JOOX Thailand Music Awards 2017, and their flagship songs have racked up tens of millions of streams. They currently have approximately 549,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, making them one of the most consistently popular Thai rock acts globally.
Five Songs to Know
- แอบรัก (Aep Rak — “Secret Love”) — A debut-era anthem; over 9.7 million streams. The song that made Labanoon a household name.
- แพ้ทาง (Pae Tang — “Defeated”) — A comeback-era hit that fuses pop-rock with luk thung sensibilities; over 9.4 million streams. Often considered Labanoon’s signature emotional ballad.
- ยาม (Yam — “Watchman”) — A driving rock single; over 6.9 million streams. Powered by a memorable guitar riff and Metee’s full-throated delivery.
- เท่าเดิม (Tao Derm — “The Same”) — A fan-favourite ballad about loyalty in love that gets played at every Labanoon show.
- เชือกวิเศษ (Chueak Wiset — “Magic Rope”) — A 2015 award-winning single demonstrating the band’s continued evolution into their second decade.
Labanoon in Australia
Labanoon performed in Melbourne for the first time in August 2025 at 170 Russell. The show was a milestone for the Australian Thai community — many fans had waited more than a decade for the chance to see the band live in Australia rather than flying back to Bangkok for a stadium show.
In 2026, Thai Oz Entertainment is bringing Labanoon to Sydney for the very first time. The show takes place at the Shark Hotel (127 Liverpool Street, Sydney NSW 2000) — a venue in the heart of the city, walking distance from Thai Town in Haymarket. For Sydney’s Thai community, this is a moment that has been a long time coming.
